Clocking in around 5'10", Surina is tall and of a fairly athletic build. She’s lean and toned and extremely curvy. She’s never been rail thin like other girls, and nor is she any kind of supermodel. Her features are strong and angled, and while not a beautiful woman by normal standards, Surina has an exotic look that tends to draw people in despite her long nose and angled jaw line. Her hips are wide and her legs are shapely. The combination of screwed up and tainted genetics caused a wide array of unusual characteristics from her dark skin that burns so easily to her expressive blue eyes and full lips. She’s classy and alluring, not ravishing or stunning.
Personality
Surina is smart and doesn’t take no for an answer. She has a dominant personality and is comfortable in her own skin. She is not about to let anyone ever tell different about herself - She's confident in what she is capable of, and hates to be told of her flaws (regardless of if they are there or not). She’s fairly egotistical despite living in a sewer most of her life; this is mostly due to her accomplishments and abilities, rather than a misplaced sense of self-importance. Surina is a natural optimist, but tends to be overbearing and aggressive about it. Many of those in the Resistance have learned their lesson, and avoid her special brand of "cheering up" whenever possible.
Surina values her freedom above all else - The thought of being trapped or caged doesn’t sit well with her, and as a result, she has developed a case of claustrophobia...Which can make living in the sewers sometimes difficult. When she's feeling uncomfortable, cornered, or pinned down, she can be snappish and brash, and is far more likely to be argumentative.
An honest and straightforward individual, Surina can often come across as blunt and tactless, even to those who know her. This honesty may seem brutal at times and her demeanor doesn't always mesh well with others - More than once, it has been the source of turbulence (and even animosity) between herself and her friends/acquaintances/etc. It is important to note that Surina doesn't mean to be so harsh - She feels she is only being truthful, and not purposefully malicious or mean.
She can be loud (since her hearing is terrible) and sometimes obnoxious, and her sense of dress matches the vivaciousness of her personality - she prefers bright colors as opposed to drab greys and blues. Despite the misunderstandings and in general occasional abrasiveness, Surina does her best to be social and flirty. She's not very good at it and tends to not be concerned with social normalities and personal space - because of the nature of her ability, she was often required to train naked, usually in front of several trainers. She doesn't have all the same inhibitions that most women do because of this.
She is intellectual and philosophical and places a high regard on scholars and the brilliant minded, and loathes her society that suppresses them. She has a passion for underdogs such as herself and longs to change her world for the better, though she does know that it’s slow going. Her views on justice are a little skewed, as she has been taught that freedom comes with a price and sometimes innocents get caught in the crossfire. Be it bombs or tear gas, she isn't above blowing up a government building in order to prove a point, to shed light on the corruption that runs rampant through her world. What she does, she does for the greater good which is more important than the individual sometimes. She completely believes that her cause is just and is prepared for the consequences, should they come.
Powers/Abilities CANON:
Surina has many of the abilities of a chameleon, and are listed below:
*Enhanced vision: she can see small movements and detect even the smallest insects from distances between five and ten meters.
*Ultraviolet light is included in her visual spectrum. This is also a weakness, see below.
*A developed quadrate: this is a bone that has developed during her growth in the back of her head and allows her to feel vibrations in her head that can travel through solid substances. She can communicate with others like her through this ability.
*She is able to physically change her body chemistry and color in order to adapt to her surroundings, exactly like a chameleon can. Unfortunately, her clothing will not change, so in order for the ability to be used to its fullest extent, Surina must be nude. It's important to note that while this does not render her completely invisible, while she is still she is still virtually undetectable to the normal human eye and can really only be picked out by another mutant that has heightened senses.
*With concentration, she can lower her body temperature and heartbeat to the same temperature as a cold blooded reptile, which makes her undetectable by heat seeking technology.
*She is a huge flirt
Weaknesses:
*Her hearing has diminished. While not completely deaf, she doesn’t have the ability to hear whispers and will not hear someone unless it is clearly vocalized.
*Her sense of smell is weak. Unless it is a strong odor, Surina will not be able to detect it.
*Ultraviolet light is included in her visual spectrum. Her eyes are extremely sensitive to light, and when above ground and in harsh lighting, she will default to wearing sunglasses.
*When Surina lowers her body temperature, it makes her sluggish and slow. If she does it for extended periods of time, it puts her at risk of passing out due to the slowing of her circulation and heartbeat.
*Her ‘color change’ ability has its limits - If she moves too fast, her body doesn’t have time to adapt to her surroundings quick enough, and she can be seen morphing. Her movements must be smooth and methodical in order to give her body time to adapt, just like a normal chameleon. This requires a lot of patience and practice.
*She is claustrophobic and dislikes rats.
*Sometimes after her ‘color shifting’, her hair stays the same color as the last color she was.

Character History: Surina is one of the Misfits that has been noticeable from birth, though not wholly manifested until she was twelve. In the hospital after she was born, she immediately camouflaged herself the same color as her blanket, and the Facility was called. One young, soft-hearted doctor couldn’t bear the thought of a baby growing up with the Facility and being subjected to a life of experiments and torture, and she hid the child in her duffel bag and bypassed the hospital’s security by slipping into a ventilation system that emptied into the ally out back. From there the unknown woman entered the Belowground and left the child where she knew it would be found by Resistance members. Surina was quiet during all of this.
From a young age, Surina was regarded with a tough kind of love that can only be found with the homeless and destitute. She found a family with them and was taught basic survival instincts – how to steal, fight dirty, start fires and assist with the rebellion. It was a waiting game to see when her abilities would finally manifest completely, and when they did at age twelve, she was immediately sent to the section of the Below that housed others her age. Here, Surina was taught far more than how to simply fistfight. She was trained in martial arts and boxing, her body conditioned and her mind trained to seek out what unique features and potential her ability might have. With the Resistance, Surina was encouraged and also educated. She was taught history from tattered books, music and philosophy from old professors who had been fired for their forward thinking. She was instructed in the arts and in sciences as well.
The Resistance was glad to have Surina’s abilities, and she was absolutely vital in many of their plots and efforts to rescue other Misfits from the Facility.
As Surina grew older, she began to accompany her elders on rescue missions. Surina was used frequently on these due to her unique ability to blend with any surrounding, even in harsh, florescent lighting. She had two close friends in the rebel camp – David and Mika. David’s power stemmed from his eyes – all he needed to do was to look at a person in the eye and he was able to project images into their minds and manipulate them into doing what he wanted. Mika had a knack for power currents – she could manipulate energy and use herself as a conductor for raw electricity. David, Mika and Surina were inseparable – and together with their talents, they were almost unstoppable. With David’s manipulation skills, Surina’s ‘invisibility’ and Mika’s knack for knocking out power grids, the trio was infamous for completing assignments successfully.
When Surina turned 27, and after numerous escapades involving the Commerce Center, the International Affairs office, and the FBI building, the rebels were able to discover the location of one of the labs where Misfits were sent to be tested on. A plan was formed to liberate them as per the usual, but even the best laid plans can go awry. Things went badly, and Mika was grievously injured, and Surina herself was caught. This is when/where she is taken from, during her captivity at the Facility.
